Pain-Free Dentistry

At M Smiles, we strive to provide a pain-free experience for all patients. Because each patient experiences their dental treatment differently, we combine the right knowledge, skills and technology to each specific case, in an effort to provide gentle dental care for all. A couple items we use to make the dental experience in our office more comfortable are TAC-20 Topical Gel and the DentalVibe.

TAC-20 Topical Gel is a topical anesthetic, or numbing gel, used in certain soft tissue or palatal procedures and before injections. This gel works quickly to ensure the area is numb before applicable treatments are performed.

M Smiles Dentistry

The DentalVibe is a great tool because it provides a targeted vibration sensation on a patients gums while injections and certain procedures are performed. This vibration stimulates the gums and allows them to relax and has a numbing effect. It also allows the patient to focus on the feeling of the vibration.

Digital Radiography
M Smiles - Houston Dentist

Digital Radiography is a great technology because of the many benefits it provides for our patients as well as our dental office.

Digital X-Rays use less radiation than traditional film x-rays, which is safer for our patients. Although digital x-rays use less radiation, we are able to capture more information with a digital x-ray sensor than with film.

Because we have more information, and can enlarge the x-ray on a monitor, we can use different software filters to allow us to interpret the x-rays with much more precision.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic Dentistry is a field of dentistry that focuses on the improvement of a patient’s smile with various aesthetically pleasing procedures. Below are a couple procedures we offer as cosmetic enhancements.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth Whitening is the quickest, most cost effective way to enhance a smile. Studies have proven that having a brighter smile can improve a person’s self confidence. Having a brighter smile also helps other people feel comfortable and confident around us.

Whether you are looking to enhance your appearance because of a social engagement, job interview, wedding, or just because, come see us at M Smiles. We can help you achieve the smile you desire.

Veneers

Cosmetic Dentist

Veneers are a popular way to improve a smile by making it brighter and covering imperfections. Veneers are popular for people who want to feel more confident and comfortable, and impress the people they come in contact with. A pleasing smile creates a more comfortable atmosphere for everyone involved.

Whether you need veneers for your upcoming wedding, job interview, or just because, we are ready to help. Give us at call at 832-461-1852. We look forward to hearing from you.

Cleanings

Coming in for routine teeth cleanings is important in ensuring one’s oral health. Regular teeth cleanings and checkups by the dentist will allow the dentist and hygienist to look for changes in a patient’s smile that may not be detectable to someone who doesn’t know what to look for.

We check for signs of periodontal disease, oral cancer and more. This allows us to catch these issues early on while they aren’t a large issue for the patient and their health.

Dentures & Partials

Dentures and Partial Dentures are known in the dental industry as Prosthetic dental devices. Prosthetics in dentistry are made to restore the function and appearance of problematic or missing teeth in the mouth.

Dentures

Dentures and partial dentures are worn by many, young and old. Advances in technology allow us to provide different options, all of which provide the support necessary to live comfortably and be able to chew naturally. They also look great!

Being able to chew comfortably is vitally important to a person because it enables them to eat better foods and more often. People who are missing their teeth often have health issues related to undernourishment because they tend to eat less often and eat less foods with substantial, necessary vitamins and minerals.

Partial Dentures

Houston Dentist

Partial Dentures are used when an area of teeth are missing and, in most cases, either the jaw structure or budget don’t allow the use of dental implants.

Partial Dentures allow us to restore function to the affected area, as well as their smile. We can match the shade of a patient’s nearby teeth to ensure the Partial is comfortable and looks great as well.

If you have missing teeth, don’t hesitate to contact us. You deserve to feel comfortable chewing and speaking to others again. Let us help. We promise, you will be glad you did. You’ll love our staff and our comfortable office.

Periodontal Disease
Houston Dentistry

Periodontal Disease is an infection that forms between the teeth and gums when proper brushing, flossing, and routine dental visits aren’t a part of a patient’s routine.

Although some patients are more prone to periodontal disease and get it even while brushing and flossing consistently, coming to routine dental visits will allow us to properly treat the disease quickly, if it exists. This ensures that you will not experience other health issues that can occur, or become worse, because of periodontal disease.

Many people have periodontal disease and don’t know it because it starts to make subtle changes in the body as it triggers the body’s inflammatory process. Health issues can occur throughout the body and are hard to link back to periodontal disease, although this is a major cause of many health issues.

Periodontal Disease has been linked to cardiovascular (heart) disease, diabetes, hormonal changes, and more. Please invest in your health and visit our office to keep your body healthy.

Dental Restorations

Dental Restorations restore the function of a tooth so patients can eat and speak comfortably. Because of advances in dental technology, we can place dental restorations that look natural in your mouth and next to your existing teeth.

Composite (White) Fillings & Sealants

Composite Fillings are tooth colored fillings that seal a tooth that has been damaged by decay or chipping. Because they are tooth colored, composite fillings look great and don’t give the unsightly appearance that amalgam fillings do.

In fact, we routinely replace silver amalgam fillings that patients received in the past and now are looking to improve their smile.

Sealants are similar to composite fillings in material and appearance. Sealants do a great job of sealing the cracks and grooves of a tooth to avoid decay from forming.

Chips can be fixed with composite filling material as well. The location of the chip is prepared so the filling material can bond to the tooth and will provide a secure fix.

These types of restorations help with appearance but may be temporary depending on location. Please call us at 832-461-1852 and let us help. If you have a chipped tooth or have any sensitivity or pain, please don’t hesitate.

Dental Crowns

M Smiles Dentist

Dental Crowns are made to replace the crown of a tooth that has become infected, decayed, cracked or broken, and the remaining structure of the tooth is insufficient to provide support for normal chewing.

In the event of infection, usually root canals are performed and the prepared tooth is capped off to strengthen the tooth and preserve the remaining structure.

Depending on the location of the tooth and the recommendations of the dentist, porcelain crowns, gold or silver crowns may be used.

Dental Bridges

A Dental Bridge is a dental device used to restore function to an area that is missing a tooth. It also helps preserve the shape and location of the remaining structure of the teeth and gums.

People who have lost an adult tooth may experience bone loss and shifting of surrounding teeth. There may be pain when eating certain foods and the shifting of teeth causes the chewing surfaces to contact unnaturally. Also, the shifting of teeth can increase the potential for gum disease, decay and tooth loss.

Root Canal Treatment

Houston Dentists - M Smiles

Root Canal Treatment is performed when the pulp of a tooth becomes infected. In this procedure, the crown of the tooth is prepared to allow treatment of the pulp.

Once treated, and removing the infection, the tooth needs to be capped off to seal the treatment, protect and strengthen the tooth. A dental crown is used to cap off the tooth and provide the necessary strength for the tooth.

Often called a Root Canal or Root Canal Therapy, Root Canal Treatment is usually needed when a patient experiences pain in their jaw or tooth. The pain may be radiating or their jaw may just feel tight. They may also experience tight neck muscles and swollen lymph nodes, although these may indicate other issues as well.

By visiting our office routinely every six months, we can take x-rays and potentially see these problems forming and prevent them early on. Visiting the dentist often can also help prevent costly dental treatment and other health issues later on.

Dental Implants

Dental Implants are one of dentistry’s strongest, most reliable restorations available. Once treatment is complete, Dental Implants are comfortable, feel real and look great because of the life-like restorations we can place on top of an implant.

Dental Implants can be used to replace one or multiple teeth and can also be placed to support Implant Dentures. These dentures use dental implants to support and hold the device in place for a secure, solid fit.

Mouth Guards
Houston Dental Office

Different types of Mouth Guards are available depending on the activities you need them for. The mouth guards we offer are for sports and for sleep.

Sports mouth guards protect teeth in activities where potential trauma may occur due to contact. Patients who get mouth guards may be in football, hockey, boxing, wrestling, basketball, soccer, or other sports.

Night Mouth Guards are used while sleeping to prevent patients from grinding their teeth and help relax jaw muscles to decrease strain on the TMJ (jaw joint). Night Guards can also help with snoring in some cases.

The use of a mouth guard, whether for sports or while sleeping, can help protect your smile and help you avoid expensive surgery later.

Please note that the use of a night guard, or cheap sports guard, for sports is not recommended. Let us provide a custom fitting sports guard for maximum protection, performance and comfortable fit.
